Fiddler on the Roof is an international phenomenon virtually unrivalled in the annals of entertainment.  For millions of people across the globe of widely differing cultures and religions, age and groups and ethnic backgrounds, it has touched audiences with it’s humour, passion, warmth and honesty and has become one of the world’s most loved musicals.

In what is a huge theatrical coup, New Zealand audiences will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the legendary Topol perform the role that made him an international household name when he performs his multi award winning stage and screen portrayal of Tevye as this smash hit tour continues to mesmerise audiences and critics alike.

The international success story of Fiddler on the Roof is inextricably linked to the man who has made the role of Tevye, the central character, his own – the legendary Topol. On stage and on screen, Topol, the winner of a Golden Globe Award, Tony Award, Olivier Award and an Oscar nomination for his role in the film of the musical, has enchanted millions.

One of the longest running musicals in Broadway history, Fiddler on the Roof follows the journey of a family that has its traditional life turned upside down as the modern world starts to impact on life in their idyllic village. Its celebrated score features songs loved the world over featuring songs such as Sunrise Sunset,  If I Were A Rich Man, which has to be one of the most recognized songs from any musical and Matchmaker, a monster hit for Barbra Streisand.

Fiddler on the Roof
has won 11 Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Musical, Best Score and Lyrics, Best Book and Best Actor for Topol.

Joining Topol on stage are Judith Roberts and Barry Crocker in a stellar cast of 35 of Australia’s best actors, singers and dancers. Broadway director and choreographer Sammy Dallas Bayes recreates the masterful work of Jerome Robbins’ (West Side Story) in this Broadway Production.

Fiddler is a timeless musical,” says Producer Tim Lawson. “The comedy and the passion are infectious, and I doubt one will ever see a finer stage performance than that of Topol. The chance to see his peerless performance is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
